Automatic transmissions have evolved a lot since General Motors introduced the Hydramatic four-speed hydraulic automatic transmission in 1939. Every passing decade has seen changes, innovations and improvements. Today's car and truck transmissions are more complex than ever before. They are designed to transmit torque and improve safety, but also to improve fuel economy.

Our technicians receive ongoing training to keep them informed about the latest technology. We also are members of the ATRA data network the provides expertise and technical information on specific issues.

HOW WE WORK

cccc

Since 1965, drivers in Sacramento have trusted us for transmission repairs. We know your automatic transmission inside and out. We work on virtually all makes of cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, motor homes and 4X4s. When you drive into our shop, you will be speaking with experienced, professional mechanics, not salesmen. You can be sure that instead of getting the run-around, you're getting a detailed assessment of the actual condition of your car, based on a thorough evaluation done by technicians with proven skills and expertise.

WHY CHOOSE US?

If you live in the Sacramento region, you could take your car or truck to any one of dozens of shops, but doesn't it just make sense to choose a shop that's been serving customers for more than 50 years? We've got a long history with our customers in the Sacramento Region. Some families have trusted us to fix their transmissions for multiple generations. We have been here for them over the years and we're ready to solve your transmission problem today!

One of the questions we are often asked is "how much does transmission repair cost?" The price can vary depending on whether the unit is replaced or rebuilt, so there's no way to answer that without knowing which solution will work best for you. The process starts with a test drive, followed by diagnostic tests. After that, we'll suggest options that fit your driving needs and your budget. Our shop honors most extended warranty programs, so if you're not certain your car will be covered, just give us a call and we'll let you know right away.

THE REBUILD PROCESS

When a trustworthy transmission repair shop assembles a rebuilt transmission in-house, the technicians doing the work will use only parts that are ordered from the manufacturer (OEM). After each part is unpacked it will be inspected, cleaned and then will be set aside, ready to be installed.

When a transmission is rebuilt, the first step is to remove ("drop") the transmission from the car or truck. The next phase involves using chemicals to flush out any particles of metal and debris and then clean the transmission before it is assembled. After that, all parts are inspected for wear and any worn out or broken parts are replaced with new ones. All gaskets and seals are removed, the surfaces are cleaned, and new gaskets and seals are installed.

During this process, the shop assembling the rebuilt transmission will check to see if there are any factory-recommended upgrades for parts or software and bring the unit up-to-date. In addition, all electrical parts will be checked and replaced if needed.

REPLACE OR REBUILD?

When your transmission is acting up: stalling, slipping, lurching or refusing to shift gears, it's time to talk to a professional. Most shops that call themselves "auto repair" facilities and most new car dealerships don'r repair transmissions. They either send your unit to a specialty shop like us or just slap in a new transmission or a remanufactured tranmission they bought from another source. Sometimes a new unit is the cost-effective answer, or a rebuild or repair could save you big money. We'll let you know.
